Empire war wagon

"Although gradually becoming obsolete due to considerable advances in technology, there's still something inherently reliable about a horse-drawn chariot literally brimming with death."
The mighty War Wagons.[2]

The Empire War Wagon is an extremely heavy version of a chariot, a mobile armoured battle tower with a crew of six warriors, pulled by two sturdy warhorses. The high walls of the tower protect its crew from arrows and attacks from the ground (SOURCE).

Impossible to exist in real history, war wagons are a perfect example of literally fantastic machineries. In the Warhammer world they continue to be fascinating killing machines. They are no-doubt fan on the modelling/custom side of things and ... as LEGO's conversions!

Compared to most attempts available on Flickr by fellow warhammer-inspired builders, I wanted to have something darker, truer to the original in the upper (scales and wooden frames) and lower (frames keeping the "tower") parts. The wooden frame is deliberately black, again as a tribute to my/our brownless building childhood :).

Proportions are quite perfect compared to the original model. Consider minifigs are on plates here, but I could squeeze up to 5 of them. It could easily host my hellblaster or helstorm, but my choices for this MOC do not allow (yet) for a frontal opening.

Wanted the horses to be harnessed and clothed to try and replace the armour they normally have in the miniature. Also the yoke intends the imitate the one you can see in the picture above, although not the only option for this model.

Red and white bricks, Modified 1 x 2 with Masonry Profile for the tower ensure the "scaled" effect I needed to obtain.

Finally, also note the weapons soldiers are holding: an elaborated pike, a man-catcher, and a morning star, the latter two duly prolonged to meet the use needs from atop the wagon - exactly like in the GW box! Then of course I wanted to stick to the red-white pattern of my Talabheim state troops theme, I am currently sticking to.

Again cursing myself for the crappy quality of this last picture not allowing to see the voids and the sophisticated structure keeping the tower up.

Will soon post updates with coloured wheels and possibly some shields/symbols on the sides. Like all my other MOCs, this also is a permanent work-in-progress and updates might follow at any time!

UPDATE 22.07.21

With painted wheels - Pity not having a way to simply keep the borders of the wheel in black!

UPDATE 22.07.21

Many asked for close-ups. Here come some.
