Ajax the Furious is no average Bright Wizard. Born a hedge wizard, brought in chains into the Bright college as a child, he never bent to the bows and ring-kissing of the capital.
So it was not to meant to last, as the purely aqshyrian nature of this pupil could not be put out by any mentor or by the tight grip and iron discipline of the College mage wardens. By the time of yet another, the last, ferocious corridor fight with a bunch of other rather defenseless students, Ajax was flambéd out. But what was learnt could not be unlearnt and he brought with himself the precious teachings, and his moody and yet unchanging temper.
Lost in a spiral of heavy drinking and mercenary trafficking, like most bright outcasts, he suddenly found purpose watching a match of animal wrestling. He burst onto the arena, interrupted the fight, and rescued the beasts. But not out of care for them, he rather had realised that they were precious battle resources at the service of the Empire (and of his own pockets).
Ever since, naturally helped by his firey gifts in taming the unwilling fighters, he became a reputed beast-master who trained endless amounts of wild creatures as mounts and support to the imperial troops. He continues to wander across the Empire to wherever his services are needed against faith and gold, after setting his main camp by the border with the Wasteland, protected by some ambiguous local lords.
Now fatter and only occasionally on the battlefield, he has never lost his erratic touch, strong of his loyal dwarf-phoenix Heratrix and all artifacts collected along his personal quests against the Ruinous Powers. Little is known of his lonely adventures, but that since one his hands are constantly glowing and that another time he made it back grievously wounded with a new, likely self-inflicted and also ever-pulsing, mark of Aqshy on his breast.
