Easter Eggs

As I have noticed recently quite some sad and superficial comments of this kind from seemingly reliable sources, I have decided to create this page as a standing post permanently visible from the blog homepage.

So let's state it: LEGO, like they do with many brands and products and lines and concepts, simply do love blinking eyes here and there and absorb references in their products, minifigures in particular.

Now I am recapping observations made on several blog and social media posts and will keep updating this article.

The dwarf slayer

Lego Minifigures Series 17 - #10 Dwarf fighter - 71018

What to say? This one was blunt and explicit, almost like the Power Ranger or the Saint Seyia knight. These were the collectible of the early days, though, and things got now more subtle, as we will get to see further down.

On this note, you might want to see my variations of this iconic WH charachter.

The Greenskin symbol

LEGO Series 24 Collectible Figures - Orc with Stand and Accessories 71037

After all, this one limits itself simply to the symbol graphics, while the minifig per se is not necessarily or particularly a strong warhammer-inspired design (perhaps excluding the jaw?). To note, earlier on orcs symbols in the Castle series were similar but different, the link was not so marked.

Along these lines, I have developed this theme even further.

The Chaos Warrior

Who didn't spot Lord Krakenskull? WH hardcore fan or not, if you dwell just a little in fantasy, you do know his helm is a neat reference to the most iconic classic Chaos Warriors. And now good luck buying these items as second-hand...

The Chaos Wastelander

LEGO Series 25 Collectible Figures - Fierce Barbarian 71045

Imagine my joy when I discovered this little detail! The buckle simply is the Chaos Undivided symbol! Hat off!

The Nurglings

Hit me like a ... think of the body proportions, as well as bellies and horns, mouth shapes, even the magma vs blisters pattern of their skin... leaves no space for discussions of sort.

The Kiev Boyar

While boyars in history correspond to a very specific social figure, LEGO could have chosen to replicate them in several different ways. All rather far from the one below that was their ultimate choice.

Of a similar tone, please admire this Total War III MOC by BardDandelion.

The Nexo Knight Book of Fear

Here comes another sweet one, innocently passing as a classic fantasy detail, while strongly hinting to Tzeentch, not last for the colour scheme and the raven-like heads!

Bricklink

The Dreamzzz night hunter

I smile every single time I look at this mini. Indeed, we all wait for a proper Witch Hunter hat. So people need to resort to alternative brands...

Here is the closest we ever got from LEGO and the entire AFOl community seems to agree on this reference. To confuse things a bit, the eye symbol might contradictorily refer to Tzeentch.
