Another beast stomping across Norsca plains - Chaos Mammoth II

Had anticipated somewhere this flock was all in the making. First two specimens been happily waiting in my boxes before going public and this is the second MOC (link to mark-bringer). Third one is awaiting the Wind of Magic to hit me once again, although sketches are ready.

This mammoth carries a bunch of Norscan raiders into war from atop some sort of wooden bunker. They are fully equipped with weapons on and some spare ones in barrels. Many more could fit in there, but this was not ideal in terms of photo-making. A drummer incites to battle, the others linger through the cracks from the sides to hit enemies nearby, safely protected by shields and chains, which in their turn keep this uncertain barricades up.

As it was the case before, limited size of the LEGO mammoth barely makes it possible to keep the majestic proportions of original Warhammer mammoths, Besides, honestly entirely built ones are very common also on the web, while I wanted to take up the challenge of a MOC starting from the almost one-piece full mammoth element.

Now you'll see the usual colour pattern, in particular black for wood, a bit as a tribute to LEGO in the 90s, a bit to ensure contrast against the brown fur of the mammoths and also to get some overall dark tone, which is essential with Chaos.

It is important to note the head 15376pb01 of this mammoth comes from the bionicle chima set 70209-1 and is duly adapted. Trunk and tusks are heavily modified to respect the mutations due to the exposure to Chaos winds in the north.

The sort of mouth at the end of the mouth, another defining feat of the original monster/model, has been rendered here with a Demogorgon head 54001pb01 from the Stranger Things set 75810-1.

Once again, this one does not reflect exactly any existing Warhammer set and is most of my creation, although in my view within the limits of credibility (in other words, GW feel free to make one inspired from this!).

As for the details:

Possible improvements:

  • Stickers with Chaos symbols on shields
  • Metal-colour chains?
